Born Tim Bergling, the Swedish DJ, remixer, and music producer committed suicide. He began posting his remixes on electronic music forums at the age of 16, and this led him to his first record deal.
He was at the forefront of the EDM Movement, that dominated the pop music landscape in the early 2010’s. In 2013, he partnered with soul singer Aloe Blacc for “Wake Me Up.” It was a unique blend of EDM and country.
Over the next few years he worked tirelessly on his music while collaborating with an array of artists including Coldplay, Madonna, and Daft Punk. At the same time he was on a relentless touring schedule.
Throughout this period he was troubled by his own success, struggling to find a balance between his desire to be happy and doing what he loved most – music.
He wrote:
“I know I am blessed to be able to travel all around the world and perform, but I have too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist.”
Tim Bergling was a sensitive artist caught up in the turbulent business of the music industry, and at the height of his popularity he was overwhelmed. He struggled with the meaning of life and what was needed to be happy. He wanted to find peace.
He will be missed, but his music and spirit will live on forever In Heaven with the Stars.
