Queen Elizabeth II
( 1926 - 2022)Added Date: September 10, 2022
Born: April 21, 1926
Died: September 08, 2022
Country: United Kingdom
Queen Elizabeth II died in her cherished sanctuary home in Balmoral Scotland. She was the beloved Queen of the United Kingdom for seventy years, being the longest-reigning British monarch in history.
As a child she displayed many attributes that served her well as Queen: discipline, dignity, kindness, grace, orderliness, responsibility and a strong sense of duty.
Her love of dogs, horses and outdoor life were present from the very beginning and gave her much joy throughout her life.
Before becoming Queen in 1953, Elizabeth married the love of her life Philip Mountbatten, a former Prince of Greece and Denmark. Their marriage lasted seventy-three years until his death in 2021. During this sad time of mourning, Queen Elizbeth was noted for saying, “Grief is the price we pay for love.”
During her reign, Queen Elizabeth saw much change and through it all she was considered “the rock on which modern Britain was built, providing it stability and strength.” She was the non-confrontational mother figure for Britain and the world.
Her style of monarchy was to treat everyone with kindness, good humor and respect. And above all she displayed the quintessential British attitude “to carry on” with a stiff upper lip and face up to the challenges of life.
In her 2002 Annual Christmas Message, just after losing her mother and only sister she offered very wise words, “Our modern world places such heavy demands on our time and attention that the need to remember our responsibilities to others is greater than ever.”
Queen Elizabeth, a life well lived, built on a foundation of duty, service, tradition, family and strong spiritual beliefs. She will be greatly missed in Britain and the world over.
Just after her death, her eldest son Charles, who was now King spoke of his dear mother ending with these words, "May flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest.”
